Referral Guidelines as Follows

BAHA’s require surgery to implant a post abutment or magnetic abutment in order for the audio processor to transmit sound to the inner ear.

Alberta Health Services has one location where BAHA’s are fit and serviced:
  • South Health Campus

General candidacy requirements:

  • Single-Sided Deafness
  • Conductive or mixed hearing loss
  • With bone conduction thresholds no greater than 65dBHL
  • Ages 5+
  • Must be able to undergo surgery for the implanted adapter

Referrals to the BAHA program can only be made by an Otolaryngologist. Audiologists in Alberta can refer directly to an Otolaryngologist for BAHA consideration.
